I grew up in South Queensferry on the outskirts of Edinburgh, I studied an NC at Edinburgh College where I got to practise Sculpture, Illustration, Painting and Textiles. Textiles and Illustration were my favourite subjects and I went on to undertake a degree in Design for Textiles at Heriot-Watt University in the Scottish Borders. It was here that I developed my own personal style; collage and pen and ink illustrations form the basis of my sketchbook work.
I’m Amy, the face behind OJ and Bear. I am a mother to the most wonderful 8-year-old and returned to education as a mature student. I have always enjoyed being creative, however, I think it was having my son that inspired me to study textiles, when decorating his room or buying him clothes I found it hard to find something a little bit “different” or contemporary, so I decided to try and design it myself.
I am inspired by animals and the natural world, also children’s books and their illustrators. I try to create fun, lively and unique pieces aimed at children’s lifestyle and interior products.
