I’m Stacy and I am the designer behind SLB Textiles. I am from Aberdeen and I have been studying in higher education for the past seven years. Firstly, I completed an NC in Fashion Design and Manufacturing and then went on to complete an HND in Textiles at NESCOL college in Aberdeen. I always knew I wanted to have a career in the creative industry but at the start I thought I would love to design and make ice-skating dresses but during my time studying HND Textiles, I fell in love with the limitless creativity involved with making Textile designs, hence why I chose to study this at Heriot-Watt university. After second year, I decided to specialise in printed textiles as that is where my strengths were and I really enjoyed the illustrative part of designing for printed textiles.
Throughout my four years at Heriot-Watt, I have designed for both interiors and fashion so I feel like a lifestyle brand would be the best way to describe what products I want to create for this small business. In third year, two of my prints were
selected to feature in the Trend Bible 2020/21 children’s interiors trend book. I find inspiration from various sources, however anything involving animals and animal prints are my favourite by far! My honours project was all about animal preservation and showing, through my prints, how beautiful our wildlife is. I feel that it is important to express important messages through this creative platform and I am extremely grateful that I can take this opportunity to do so.
